Bingo Game Patterns Guide

We’re all familiar with a full house being the way to win the top prize in any bingo game, but bingo patterns give you an opportunity to bag a prize before the game has run its course. These patterns are found in both online games and physical bingo halls and can vary on how many numbers are used in that variant.

There’s an almost unlimited number of bingo game patterns, so we’ve put together the most common ones you’ll come across whilst playing online casino 90, 80, and 75 ball variants so you know what to look for the next time you play.

What are bingo patterns?

Bingo win patterns are ways to win a game of bingo outside of getting a full house. The best known of these is the ‘line’, which is all the numbers on a single horizontal line, though it isn’t the only pattern used in some games.

The patterns vary from game to game and also depend on the type of bingo that you’re playing. Whether you’re playing online or at a traditional bingo hall, information about what bingo patterns are available to win with is displayed clearly so you know which ones you want to make.

How easy it is to make a pattern depends on how many numbers are required to complete that pattern, as well as whether you can make a pattern more than once on the same card.

For example, it’s possible to make several lines on a single card, but you can only achieve ‘four corners’ once. Similarly, the ‘four corners’ pattern only requires four numbers whilst a ‘wine glass’ pattern requires 11.

Technically, anything can be a bingo pattern. If you create your own game to play at home with friends, you can choose any you like, even letters of the initials of the players or certain numbers to represent a friend’s age at their birthday party.

However, there are some bingo winning patterns that are considered ‘standard’, ‘regular’, or ‘traditional’. Let’s take a look at the most commonly used ones in some of the online bingo and themed bingo

90 Ball Bingo Patterns

90 ball bingo is the most common version of the game here in the UK. Whilst the game is defined by its having 90 different numbers that can be called, the easiest way to spot this variant is with its distinct 9x3 bingo card.

While rules can vary from game to game and bingo hall to bingo hall, the most common bingo patterns for the 90 ball game are.

Four Corners - The numbers in the top right, top left, bottom right, and bottom left of the card. In 90 ball bingo, there are spaces left blank on the card, so where a corner is blank, the next one along is used for the corner. Line - A horizontal line of numbers completely checked off, excluding any blank spaces on that line. Two Lines - Two horizontal lines of numbers on the same card completely checked off, excluding the blank spaces Full House - All the numbers of a single card checked off

It’s important to remember that standard bingo game rules state that the call must be made on a number in that winning bingo pattern. Therefore, if you’re too slow to shout and the caller moves on to the next number, you will forfeit your win.

80 Ball Bingo Patterns

80 ball bingo is a variant that uses 80 different numbers, 10 fewer than the standard British version. The other key difference is that this game uses a card with a 4x4 grid, with colours used to categorise groups of numbers.

These colours are represented on each card, with four differently coloured columns, one for each corresponding group of numbers: Red - 1 - 20 Yellow - 21 - 40 Blue - 41 - 60 White or Silver - 61 - 80

This variant has the same bingo patterns as the 90 ball game, but with some extras thrown in to give you more ways to win. The most common 80 ball bingo win patterns are: Four Corners - The four corners of the 4x4 grid First Line - One full line of four numbers, which can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal Two Lines - Two full lines of four numbers, which can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal Three Lines - Three full lines of four numbers, again can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, though the latter is a little complicated as it involves overlap Square - The four numbers in the middle of the grid, forming a square shape Full House or Four Lines - All 16 numbers on the grid

75 Ball Bingo Patterns

75 ball bingo is the standard variant played in the US. In addition to using just 75 different numbers in this game, you can easily spot it because of its larger 5x5 grid. Although it has 25 spots on it, a card only has 24 numbers as the centre square is left blank.

In addition to the standard four corner, lines, and full house bingo patterns, you’ll find these other common ways to win in many 75 ball bingo games.

Arrow - An arrow shape pointing in any direction, with numbers stretching from two corners X - Two diaganolal lines through the centre, creating an X pattern Numbers or Letters - A particular letter or number formed from marketing numbers on the card, the most common choice is 7 Top and Bottom - The first and last lines fully completed Frame - All of the outer numbers checked off to create a square Pyramid - Completed bottom line tapering to the top in a pyramid shape Wine Glass - 11 numbers that create a ‘Y’ or ‘wine glass’ shape with the entire bottom line, a horizontal centre line, and additional squares to finish the shape
